I was thinking the same thing. Plus when the dude was in the parking lot he could have incredibly easily just blocked him when he turned around but he kinda just nudged him and let him get away again
No training and afraid to damage the police car but at some point the danger to the public has to out way some damage to the police car!

The crash at the very beginning was the end of a police chase. The truck actually landed on top of another vehicle in the parking lot that had a person in it. The miraculous part is she saw it coming and hit the floor……..walked away without a scratch

Ive seen my home town in one police chase video, I live in a small town in rural AZ so we dont get many chases here, they drove from Phoenix and ended about 10 miles north of here, the person was an idiot and got off the Interstate and drove down a dirt road and wiped out on an off camber corner.

@ Smullet90 You are correct because that old guy took the officers pistol and tried to shoot him with it. The old guy was fighting the officer trying to aid his partner. Should have subdued and arrested the old guy for assault before he took the officers gun.

So the clip at the end, explain why he wasn’t Pitted on an unoccupied street, but instead allowed into town?
the cop which leads the chase decides when to implement a PIT maneuver , if public isn’t at risk the chase can go on, in this case the cop said to take him out/down in a parking lot because the risk of a person getting injured was to high
and he got in the way unless he pitted them successfulyl at the end, either way.. video cut out without showing end result.
he cannot be pitted unless he is a threat to road users or tried to ram someone.
An officer cannot decide on their own to pit a car. They have to call it in and get the ok from their superior. They try not to put due to the risk involved. Its more of a last ditch measure.
